It is possible that the teacher can identify the weaknesses that the child has relative to the standards. Being able to hone on problem areas, along with the help from the teacher, will reinforce to the teacher that these are this particular students problem areas. If the mother is a teacher, she should be able to utilize appropriate teaching techniques to help her student do better in school.
